Doull Family.

This family is very dear to my heart. Kristen and I have known eachother since 7th grade. It seemed to be meant to be that we would be friends.. one day she was the new girl in school, and the next she was the newest edition to Travel Group, the performing cast that traveled all over CA fairs performing. To top it all off she lived like a block away. Yes, we became carpoolers, which led to being friends, which led to being best friends, which led to being married. Don't ask about the last part. haha.
So through countless mornings of hurry up, were gonna be lates! and dozens of weekend trips to perform, and many many sleepovers, I have come to know this family very well. And I love them dearly.
We had a great time taking these photos, as you can see they have a lot of fun together. Even brother James started to have fun towards the end. :)
Doull Family, Thank you for everything you have done for me! Mom, I love you! :) I can't thank you enough for all of the fun times we have had, and for supplying Kristen and I with all of the snacks we need to support our Gilmore Girls diet. I hope you love the photos, and I'll be seeing you soon. :)

What is Romance?

This morning I was going through my normal blogroll and checking out what all the people I stalk daily had to say.. :) I was reading Bianca Juarez's In The Name of Love. Her topic today was about Romance. She spoke about how the definition of romance was so awful, and speculated whether or not romance was for women what porn is for men. She asked her readers to define romance in their own words, so that she could explore the topic further. {If you don't read Bianca's blog, please check it out.. She is constantly challenging me and I'm sure you would enjoy it too!}

As a wedding photographer, I live in a very romanticized world. I spend hours looking at weddings and researching them. I believe that weddings are a beautiful and personal event that should be the most romantic day of a girls life. But then I really started thinking about what Bianca had said. What was my definition of romance? Not necessarily candlelight dinners, and walks on the beach..

This sparked another thought train focused on my relationship with my boyfriend. I decided that romance for me is simpler than what some may find romantic. I feel loved when  the person I love shows me that they care for me. Devin always goes out of his way to make sure I feel cared for. Whether it was the time that I had a terrible headache at the hospital waiting for a friend to finish having some painful treatment, and he drove over to bring me some advil and a bottle of water... Or the time that he spent 7 hours driving me in the rain and traffic to pick up a flash I needed to shoot a wedding, and then took me to a nice dinner afterwards... Or the time he cooked me homemade macaroni and cheese when I spent the day shooting a wedding and he knew I would be hungry after. To me it's the little things that are the most romantic. So, I'm interested to know. What is your definition of romance?

But we cannot forget the most romantic relationship of all. As part of the church we are called the "bride" of the Lord. He loved us so unconditionally that he died an excruciatingly painful death so that we could be made perfect in His love, and spend eternity with Him in Heaven. So let your heart be filled with His love today.

Here are a few photos I snapped during a recent shoot. Enjoy, and have a blessed day.

Mitch & Danielle: Married!

Photographing this wedding was at times like being a secret agent. Mitch and Danielle met in school, and fell in love. When Mitch joined the Army, Danielle was there to support him, and she waited for him to return home so that they could finally be together again. I met with Mitch's parents to consult about photographing the wedding, and they explained to me that Mitch was in Iraq, but was planning to propose to Danielle when he got back home. The tricky part was that Mitch would only be home for a very short time, and they wanted to get married before they had to move to Georgia. And all of this planning had to be done without Danielle finding out. It was all going to be a surprise!
The day of the wedding Mitch and Danielle were so relaxed and excited. They knew that this day was about celebrating their love and starting a new life together. Photographing them was so much fun because it was so obvious how much they are in love. You could tell that they had truly learned to appreciate every single moment they shared together.
Mike & Mandy, Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to photograph this special day in your family's  life. I just want to say, I think you both are rockstars. You pulled off a beautiful wedding (& in top secret mode), Mission Accomplished!
Mitch & Danielle, Always keep the feeling of appreciation you have for each other. Watching your love and knowing how much you went through to keep it strong inspires me to work at my own relationships. You are beautiful! I hope you enjoy the photos and are enjoying married life even more! Good luck in Georgia you two.
Love, Ty
